Carolyn is a research economist in the Finance and Private Sector Development unit of the World Bank¡¯s Development Research Group.? Her research focuses on firm growth in low- and middle-income countries, including the investment decisions of entrepreneurs, strategies for expanding market access, and the impact of expanding financial services. Some of her recent projects address firm location decisions, poverty traps and investment indivisibilities, land markets, and linking buyers to sellers in remote places. She received her PhD in Economics and Public Policy from Tufts University in 2025 and holds a B.S. and M.P.P. from the University of Virginia.
